We’d like to let you know about an upcoming national test of AusAlert, Australia’s new national emergency warning system.

What is AusAlert?

AusAlert is a government-led public safety system designed to send urgent emergency warnings to compatible mobile phones and SIM-enabled devices located within an affected area during emergencies or disasters. The system uses cell broadcast technology, enabling alerts to be delivered quickly and reliably without relying on SMS.

National Test: 27 July

A nationwide test of the AusAlert system is scheduled for 27 July. During this test, you may receive a test alert on your mobile device. No action will be required.

The exact timing of the test depends on your location. See the below page for a list of expected test times for each location.

If it is not safe for you to receive AusAlerts on a device, you should consider keeping the device turned off or in aeroplane mode except when needed.
